Chris Isaak
The names have been changed to protect the innocent! Pete and I were co-workers at a pretty big rock station in a major market. We decided to go to the Chris Isaak show and blew a big joint before we walked in. (Mind you, I don’t smoke anymore.) We were pretty stoned and hoping not to run into anyone. We grabbed some sodas from the concession stand and ran right into the record rep. “Oh there you guys are, come with me right now to meet Chris…I need you to come back stage”… blah blah blah. Shit, we said… “uh ok”. They take us back to the meet and greet…. I had a turtle pin on my shirt…. Chris says to me, “I really like your turtle!” (Remember I am completely stoned.) I said, “Are you a turtle?” and he gave the secret code, “You bet your sweet ass I am!” Which really blew me away ! Chris was a member of the Turtle Club.
The following week our picture with Chris was in every trade magazine in the country…with both our red-eyed, stoner looks blazing across every major Radio and Record publication.
