Jane Fonda and Robert DeNiro
While Jane Fonda and Bobby DeNiro were filming “Stanley and Iris” in Waterbury, they held a photo shoot with fans at Lake Quassy. We stood in line for hours and it finally became my time to meet them.
I absolutely worship DeNiro and was only mildly interested in Fonda. So when I stepped up to meet them I turned to Jane and in a very calm voice said, “I’m very happy to meet you!” Then I turned to Bobby and having lost all dignity and restraint shouted “AND I JUST LOVE YOU!!”
He looked at me like I was insane but both of them managed to stay there and we had our picture taken. A moment that I will treasure always!

Hi! I should have put this in my original story. It was an exciting time, that summer, following filming all around Waterbury…..South Main Street and White City. Anyway, I did want to add that one day I was down at the “bakery” site…just me and two women standing around. Robert DeNiro comes out of his trailer and flashes a big smile and gives us a wave and after a while Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward come out of the building and did the same . Another day, a limo pulls up at the South Main site and out comes Cher and her “bagel” boyfriend. She and Jane Fonda were obliging fans with many, many autographs. Like I said, it was an exciting summer!
