Jeff Bridges
Working as an extra on the upcoming film “Crazy Heart,” I was exhausted after 5 hours of rehearsal and take and retake on one scene as the taxi driver for Jeff Bridges. After another couple of hours resetting for the next scene, and another hour of take after take, and another hour of resetting and rehearsing for the final scene of the day, with sunset only a few hours away, we finally try for a take. I start the taxi, the cameras roll, Bridges says some dialogue, and I sit there perplexed. The Director yells “Cut!” Bridges looks at the Director and says “He never moved the taxi.” I tell the Director “He never gave my cue.” Oops, big mistake. People have been fired for less. Diplomatically it was decided I’d get a visual cue on the next take, and all was well. Long, tiring day or not, never criticize the star whether you’re another star or a peon like me!
