John Travolta
In 1981, the radio station I was working for in Philadelphia hosted the world premiere and after-party for the movie, “Blow Out,” a wonderful thriller starring John Travolta.
The movie had been shot in and around Philly, and had created quite a buzz, as Travolta’s career was very hot at that time, having recently done “Saturday Night Fever, “Grease” and “Urban Cowboy.”
The night of the premiere was crazy! The after-party, at a club within a local hotel, was invitation-only, and packed to the rafters. The music was loud and the drinks were flowing, but when John walked into the room, there was silence.
As Travolta and others from the movie sat down at the tables that had been reserved for them, the dj started the music again. I was at a table next to John’s, sorta dancing with a friend on the edge of the dance floor. But all of a sudden, John grabbed my hand and pulled me onto the dance floor. OMG! I’m not even sure I dared to breathe, but I certainly enjoyed myself!
When the song ended, John walked me back to my table and kissed me!
