Liberace
Back in the early eighties I had the pleasure to meet Liberace before a concert in Springfield, MA. He was to perform at the Civic Center and I was a photographer for WWLP a local tv station. The reporter and I were waiting for him to come and give us a brief interview.
So here comes this star wearing a ton of makeup and a glittery and shiny costume that was just unreal. He was very gracious and “had us at hello.” He started to tell us about what the fans could expect tonight at his concert.
He said, “This show is very special to me because I had to bring in my special piano,” which he showed us. The piano was unlike anything I had seen. All covered in tiny mirrored glass and crystal. It was un-real.
He continued, “This piano is spectacular and it is very, very expensive and is one of only two in the entire world…..and I have BOTH of them!” Then he laughed uncontrollably and so did we.
We could have talked to him for hours, what a wonderful man and terrific showman!!!
