Mickey Mantle and Billy Martin
About 30 or so years ago, my husband and I went out for dinner to a local pub in the Briarwood section of Queens in New York City. As we looked around, we realized that sitting at the bar were Mickey Mantle and Billy Martin, drinking beer.
We had heard rumors that this pub was a hangout for baseball players. Although we would have loved to get their autographs, we allowed them their privacy. To this day, I regret not talking to them.
